The OCEC cements OMRAN Group’s role in turning a vision into a reality and contributing to the national tourism strategy in line with the government’s economic diversification agenda. This landmark property will fuel the Sultanate’s sustainable development drive in accordance with Oman Vision 2040 and the National Tourism Strategy.
In March 2013 OMRAN released a study on the OCEC project conducted by Booz & Co., which projected that the project will generate 295 million Omani Riyals in local spending and estimated that OCEC will create up to 15-18000 Direct and indirect jobs and contribute 200-240 million Omani Riyals to the national economy by 2030. The study also included that by 2030 the OCEC will contribute 140-170 million Omani Riyals to GDP, 30% of this amount from tourism revenues. The Booz & Co. socio-economic impact assessment study on OCEC concluded that far-reaching impact is expected to the Oman economy and in terms of job creation for Omanis within the OCEC and outside the development.
The construction of OCEC project has been designed to ensure compliance to sustainability guidelines meet LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. And as part of our on-going commitment to local development, OMRAN established a mentoring programme within the OCEC construction supervision team to allow the largest number of Omani engineers from various disciplines to gain on-the-job exposure to different stages of construction

In compliance with the Tourism National Strategy for the development of the Tourism Sector the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the ISFU, Support and Follow up Unit of Tanfeedh and various other Government entities have been mandated to master plan and implement essential, acceptable, and successful public services for key destinations to serve and enhance domestic tourism.
In pursuit of enhancing traveler’s comfort and enjoyment experience across the Sultanate, a key objective of Tanfeedh Initiative 16 KPI’s is the completion of one Integrated Tourism Service Station prototype that will set stage for other projects to be modeled on.
