OMRAN Group and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism Sign Usufruct Agreement to Develop and Operate Wadi Al Shab

In a step that reflects the joint national efforts to activate Oman’s natural tourism assets and promote sustainable development, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and OMRAN Group have signed a usufruct agreement to develop Wadi Al Shab — one of Oman’s most renowned natural destinations, located in Tiwi, Sur, in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

The agreement was signed by H.E. Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and Hashil bin Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of OMRAN Group, in the presence of officials from both entities.

This strategic collaboration aims to transform Wadi Al Shab into a year-round integrated tourism destination that welcomes visitors of all ages from within Oman and abroad. The destination will offer a harmonious mix of adventure, relaxation, and engagement with nature.

The development covers an area of approximately 3,000 linear meters, with a width ranging between 200 and 300 meters. OMRAN Group will lead the development in line with global environmental standards, leveraging the site’s unique natural features to enrich the visitor experience while also creating new business and investment opportunities for local enterprises and SMEs.

The project is set to include a wide range of attractions and amenities, such as a fully integrated adventure park featuring a zipline experience, via ferrata mountain climbing routes, and cliff-jumping platforms. Suspension bridges will be constructed to improve accessibility across the wadi, while dedicated hiking trails, swimming zones for adults and children, and shaded rest areas will enhance the comfort and safety of visitors. The development will also feature dining outlets including restaurants and cafés, ensuring a well-rounded and immersive experience.

Wadi Al Shab is considered one of the leading adventure tourism destinations in Oman, known for its rich natural landscape and diverse terrain featuring unique rock formations and natural pools. The site offers visitors a range of engaging experiences, including hiking along scenic mountain trails, swimming in freshwater basins, and exploring caves and waterfalls — making it a perfect destination for those seeking both adventure and the tranquility of nature.
